A Place for Grace is a division of Freedom Reigns, a 501C3 Colorado Nonprofit Corporation that started in 2005 primarily as an equine assisted learning program for at-risk youth and young adults. In 2013, the Board saw the need for expanding the vision into trade and life-skills training for post-incarcerated, post-rehabilitation or women with challenging circumstances. Checks and balances were put in place with the IRS and State of Colorado regarding the logistics of making these changes.
Freedom Reigns Board:
- Robin Nash, President of Freedom Reigns
- Ann Warren, Vice President and original founder of Freedom Reigns
- Wendy Buckley, Secretary/Treasurer of Freedom Reigns and CEO of Still Water Ranch, a division of Freedom Reigns
As a division of Freedom Reigns, A Place for Grace is legally not owned by anyone but rather governed by the Board of Freedom Reigns reported to by the CEO and COO of A Place for Grace. There is a Memorandum of Understanding between the two insuring that the Board will respectfully allow the CEO and COO to run the daily operations and management and will only report to the Board with financial accountability, standardizations and IRS regulatory documentation.
Upon graduation from our program, our team members will be equipped for solid employment, have the desire to avoid recidivism* and will be empowered with the skills to lead a financially self sustainable life.
*Recidivism is a tendency to relapse into a previous condition or mode of behavior.
A Place for Grace is a start-up Social Enterprise nonprofit retail boutique. This means we are an organization that applies commercial strategies to maximize improvements in human well-being, rather than maximizing profits for personal gain or investors. As a nonprofit organization we are afforded the opportunity for financial growth through external sources while creating a self-sustainable program.
Women will be employed with our organization for nine months while participating in our life-skills and career training programs. A six month follow up program will afford them the opportunity for additional mentoring as well as the ability to pay it forward and mentor new participants. Additionally, our abbreviated course provides a short-term challenge focused solution to a larger volume of participants.
